Description
On our travels around India we spent a few days in the town of Varanasi, said to be of particular importance to the Hindu people because the holy river Ganges flows right past it. Stone steps lead down to the river and at any time of the day you will find people bathing and working on the river.
Sunrise Birds — very early one morning, long before sunrise, we went on a boat trip on the river Ganges. As the sun rose the weak light fought through the smoke and pollution and the sky went a magnificent colour. A few minutes earlier I made this photograph then, as the sun rose slightly higher in the sky the colours continued to change from a deep purple to a pinkish-orange colour.
