Description
On our travels around India we spent a few days in the town of Varanasi, said to be of particular importance to the Hindu people because the holy river Ganges flows right past it. Stone steps lead down to the river and at any time of the day you will find people bathing and working on the river.
At certain times of the year in India people have kite flying festivals. One such event is the Hindu festival of Makar Sankranti (also called Pongal in the south of India). During this time the towns are littered with kites and their razor-sharp strings. These two kite pilots were either taking a break from flying or, more likely, had lost their kite battle with someone a few streets away and were deciding what to do about it.
